Typography

I am always inspired by typography artists such as Alex Trochut, Nicolas Alexander, Shiny Binary, and Guilherme Marconi. No where near as good as these guys, but I decided to give experimental type treatments a whirl a little while ago.

FlashPitt 2008

So I went to FlashPitt last Friday and WOW!!! What a blast! Learned some cool new features about CS4 coming out soon, some rad plugins and such that can be used, and met a few new animation/Flash folk. I really hope this will be a yearly event in Pittsburgh, it really brings a lot of creatives together and this area could always use more of that. I was really impressed and will be there next year! I'd like to give a special thanks to the super rad dudes at sunKING for the great evening! Cheers!

Rad Jon Burgerman poster!

While strolling through IKEA on Saturday with my wife, I was surprised to see this rad poster by none other than one of my new favorite artists, Jon Burgerman. I quickly grabbed it, and it was a steal for only $12, plus it's HUGE!

I first ran across his work at the I am 8 Bit show in 2007 and now kicking myself for not getting this print:

Also he just came out with a new toy series by Kid Robot that I'm pumped for:

And made this awesome dunny a little while back:

Checkout more of his work at his site!

After around 4 or 5 years of having the same design, I've finally got around to updating my website. I'm still updating the content, but there are a few newer pieces of work. What are you waiting for? Go check it out!

Falco for Fortitude

A couple years ago I did some character designs for a German TV show called Fanny and Falco for Fortitude Studios in Burbank. They have since moved or gone under, I'm not sure what happened, the sign disappeared one day, but anyway here's a few of those character concepts.

More where this came from! Stay tooned!

Tape Art in Spain!

Check this out! The Tape Matters show from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain asked me to do a piece and I found a picture of it online in the gallery. Here's my submission:

And here are some other ones that are better than mine in the same show:

You can take a look at the rest of them in the Pictures section of their myspace here.

Persistence of Vision short film

So I was telling somebody the other day about the short film "Persistence of Vision" I worked on in my last year at Edinboro and when they asked if they could view it, I said not yet, maybe it will be posted online someday. And so I thought I'd share. I was able to work with some really talented friends on this. They are the ones that made this film happen.

I Never Smile If I Can Help It

"I never smile if I can help it. Showing your teeth is a submission signal in primates. When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life." - Dwight Shrute

I have "the office" desktop calendar and thought I'd share Dwight's thought on smiling.
